You're (on) under Windows. Windows doesn't find it necessary to connect
stdio (stdin/stdout/stderr) from a GUI application to a shell. If you're
building OOo yourself you'll find a guistdio.com in the solver bin
directory, copy that to <yourOOoInstallation>\program\soffice.com and
when invoked from a command line window it will load soffice.exe with
stdio connected.
