This is not true. 3.0 3.1 and 3.1.1 are all released for PPC. I run
3.1.1 RC2 on my G4 with 10.5.8. Highly recommend you run software
update to get the latest operating system.
if you know that the build has not yet passed the QA approval, then I
would recommend not to name it as released. Otherwise this could confuse
people as the most know this term to mark a build/version as stable and
final and ready to use.
The problem here is there are not enough PPC users involved in the
project. More testing is needed and the above versions simply have not
had the proper quality assurance "go ahead" to move them to release
status. They're perfectly stable, and there are ongoing bugfixes and
error reporting like with any version. If you want to see releases
more swiftly, I highly recommend becoming involved as a tester. Get
with me offlist and we can work on it together. I am planning to do
some testing tonight.
I would be happy to put the Mac OS PPC build to the stable tree in the
mirror system after it got the "QA passed" stamp. :-)
Best regards
Marcus

Dear Sir/Madam:
I am writing to inquire about my current options running Open Office on a
Power Mac G5 under Mac OS 10.5.6. According to the release pages, and the
platforms table, I see that I am currently limited to version 2.4.0 which
does not successfully launch onto my machine. Upon double click of the icon,
it invokes the X11 environment, then hangs up, giving a "Command timed out"
error message. Let me know what my prospects are for the Aqua 3.1.1 release,
as this would be preferable given the time invested to get it going, and
given the improvements made to the later release.
Your kind attention is sincerely appreciated-
With best wishes,
