Greatly encouraged by your response, thanks! "Someone reported that X works with the multi-head console support in Linux 2.5 kernels."
I did some searching for multi-head consoles under 2.5 kernel, but didn't see anything. I would be highly appreciative if you could give me some pointers. As far as I could see, the Linux Console Project is defunct, but there is definitely work on multiple input devices going on. Someone reported that X works with the multi-head console support in Linux 2.5 kernels. As far as I am concerned, that is the right way to go: get multi-heads working on the console, then run X on top of that. -- Dr. Andrew C.
