Actually, would it not be more convenient to not include the minor version in SNAPSHOTS? There will now never be a new 1.9.0-SNAPSHOT. There is no reason to use it. I propose to call the snapshot 1.9-SNAPSHOT, so that you have to change your configuration and symlinks and what not only when switching from 1.9 to 1.10, or 2.0 or so.
