I've just completed the first draft of a HOWTO to upgrade IMP to
version 3.0. The draft is located at
http://www.familybrown.org/howtos/imp-upgrade.html (though the
contrib RPMs haven't made it e-smith.org yet, so be gentle on my DSL
connection). It's been tested on exactly one SME 5.1.2 machine, and
only to the point of making sure I could log in, but it seems to
mostly work.
There is one known issue: When you attempt to add a contact to your
address book (by clicking on the little book icon to the right of the
address), it gives a message of "This person is already in your
addressbook.", even though the address book is empty. If you go to
the Addressbook screen and try to add it from there, it works fine.
I haven't yet been able to track down the cause of this.
AFAIK, this procedure should work on 5.0 as well (I'm not aware of
any relevant changes), but it hasn't been tested. Any feedback would
be appreciated.
