dmc-mitel-adv-backup-restore-0.0.1-5.noarch.rpm - adds an 'Administration, Adv. Backup/Restore' panel including a new 'Backup to Tape' and 'Selective Restore from Tape' function. Replaces my Backup/Restore Now contribs. dmc-mitel-flexbackup-0.0.1-1.noarch.rpm - adds a 'Configuration, Flexbackup' panel providing access to change flexbackup parameters to match specific tape drive requirements. As an example for a valid backup to occur, here are two tested drive parameters: [Seagate STT20000A 20GB IDE] - Tape block size: [ 10 ] - erase_rewind_only: [ true ] - erase_tape_all_level_zero: [ true ] - file systems to backup: [ all ] - type of backup: [ dump ] [OnStream ADR260.IDE] - Tape block size: [ 32 ] - erase_rewind_only: [ false ] - erase_tape_all_level_zero: [ false ] - file systems to backup: [ all ] - type of backup: [ dump ] Note, there have been a few reports of backups 'appearing' to work but restores fail. I have found most failures are due to default parameters being incorrect for specific tape drives. This results in invalid backups. Even though the backup report shows no errors you must learn to correctly interpret the tape position numbers in your backup report. The only way to confirm your tape backup is working is to perform a backup and test it with a selective restore. If you have never tested your backups, you may be surprised what you find. If you find your restore fails, try changing the default erase parameters to false and repeat the backup/restore test.
