Phil & other DFCers,

Here's what I think is a VERY APPROPRIATE idea regarding Dr. Miller's book
allotment. Why not sell Giff's books to DFC members -at a reasonable price,
of course- and apply/distribute the proceeds to Mexican students who are
planning on presenting talks to the Council in competition for the Robert R.
& Francis H. Miller Award. (Perhaps if Giff Miller & Steve Norris would
sign them, it might even sweeten the pot -and the price- a bit.) It would
certainly help our Mexican students to offset their travel expenses. Of
course, I'm not sure how many books we're talking about here. Perhaps it's
not enough to have a significant impact..? In any case, it would be, IMHO,
a very nice gesture to the memory of Fran & Bob.

So what's not to like?

Best regards to all. I'm already looking forward to a great meeting on the
CA coast this November!! Surf's soon to be up, dudes & dudeses! :-)

Subject: Freshwater Fishes of Mexico

Giff Miller (Bob's eldest son and a geology prof. at the University of
Colorado at Boulder) recently asked me to give him some ideas on how to
distribute Bob Miller's allotment of Freshwater Fishes of Mexico, which he
inherited. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Gorgonio, how about your
contacts in Mexico? Any ideas through SIMAC?

Please send any responses to me, and I'll forward them on to Giff.

Phil
