I am delighted at the appointment of Aneesh Chopra by President Obama as the
first Chief Technology Officer of the US-- and the report by the Wall Street
Journal entitled, "Tech Industry Cheers as Obama Taps AneeshChopra for CTO,
saying that "Silicon Valley execs and tech bloggers sounded genuinely
excited about Obama’s choice..."

I have known both Vivek Kundra, the first Federal CIO and Aneesh Chopra only
since I came to the DC area a few years ago. Both are in their early 30s and
have a long career ahead of them. I was hoping Aneesh will run for Lt
Governor of VA next but this is indeed a great opportunity for him to blaze
a new trail. Its a huge opportunity for both of them to keep the US
competitive.

I sincerely hope they also consider spreading their messages across the
developing world in how to gain from the advances in information
technologies in overcoming poverty, achieving universal literacy and making
healthcare affordable
