hi everyone -

    remember when public libraries were used for storing media forms
rather than creating them?

     yesterday i heard from a librarian in new york state that will be
soon starting a podcast for young adults. the purpose of this podcast
is to create another way for youth to be connected to the community's
public library.

     if podcasts are the mode of communication most comfortable to these
youth, then it's only logical for libraries to be producing podcasts
to speak to them.

      i don't expect a flood of other libraries to get into podcasting
right away. but the writing is on the wall: the writing is no
longer on the wall.

           - phil

one way to forge new bonds with your local public librarians is to offer a
free podcasting workshop for community members. reserve the last 1/3 of
the workshop for a discussion on how new communication channels are
bringing new ways for community members to learn from each other.
