Yes. Not only packet stuff, but Power Basic (meant for a 286) runs and compiles well. From time to time I use it for making some "tools" for some repetitive and boring calculations. So, don't think it is not possible...give it a try...you might be nicely surprised. I am using XP Pro SP2.
