Kurt, It is already here! We have been encrypting Amateur Radio Part 97 digital traffic 24/7 on 2.4 GHz for years! It is expanding in use in the Amateur Radio VHF & UHF bands, but is not likely to be found on any HF bands as international encrypted traffic is not permitted by the ITU....but there are ways around that too (MAC filtering, etc.).
