A nice article on the businessweek innovation page about return on
investment vs return on insight and the impact in a fast paced digital
environment.
Two things of note... insights are sometimes more powerful and have more
potential impact than resource investment. And, that research as a phase is
not optimal.

While this is focused on in-house groups... consultants with a domain focus
can also benefit from this advice with constant care and feeding of the
knowledge pool... even when it mean contributing some non billable hours.
