How is ataraid ("fake" raid) compared to gmirror?

I think the main disadvantage of ataraid is that it is tied to a specific
chipset. It is difficult to recover the disk if moved to a different
systemboard.  But, for redundant purposes of a firewall, you just want to
keep it alive until it is replaced. I don't think we really want to reuse
the disks.
