The link issue is on the wish list.  For that and exporting images you'd have to modify the itext exporters.  Off the top of my head, I'm not sure whether itext supports writing images to pdf's and rtf's.  I believe it does.  Look at the itext tutorial for examples showing how to use that lib, http://www.lowagie.com/iText/tutorial/index.html.

I am using display tag 1.1 in to get the PDF export feature. However, I am unable to export the images, as they are rendered as raw HTML <image src="" I also tried using the CSS option for images, but it does not work.
 
Secondly, the links are also not rendered and the PDF outputs as <a href=''....>
 
If anybody knows how to get this to work, please share it with me.
