I've tested the application with sqlite instead of mysql and I've no
problems.

The mysql table that syncdb generate is (the mysql dump):

DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `demo_mymodel`;
SET @saved_cs_client     = @@character_set_client;
SET character_set_client = utf8;
CREATE TABLE `demo_mymodel` (
  `id` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
  `name` varchar(50) NOT NULL,
  `description` varchar(200) default NULL,
  PRIMARY KEY  (`id`)
) ENGINE=InnoDB AUTO_INCREMENT=6 DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1;
SET character_set_client = @saved_cs_client;
