*** Democracies Online Newswire - http://www.e-democracy.org/do *** From: http://netelection.org/conference/ Wednesday January 10, 2001 9:30 – 12:00 National Press Club 14th and F Streets NW Washington DC As it turns out, the Internet did make a difference in Election 2000 -- not in tipping the electoral outcome but in changing how the political process works. The era dominated by pricey television ads and 8-second soundbites and the correspondingly passive and unengaged citizenry is on the way out. The early TV ads in 1952 didn’t change the outcome of that election, but they did indeed start a revolution in how the national political game is to be played. Our research findings indicate the media-politics revolution is about to play itself out, once again. The Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania will present findings from its unique archive of the Election 2000 web campaign as well as national survey findings, experimental studies of what works on the web and case studies of six congressional districts. 9:30 Coffee and Danish 9:45 Evaluating the Web in Campaign 2000 W.
