Unfortunately, most of the active members of the team (that I'm aware of) are
not located in North America, so the time and expense involved in getting to
the conference are probably not practical. I would love to go myself, and have
the time available, but Australia is too far away and I'm avoiding entering the
USA anyway.

Should this be forwarded to the US/NA marketing team to see if there is anyone available?

Hi all,

I just wanted to follow up on this. I'm the conference organizer,
and a long-time contributor to GNOME documentation. Open Help has
two days of presentations and open discussion, followed by three
days of multiple-team sprints.

Last year we had some great presentations, but amazing discussions.
We all do things a little differently, and we can all learn a lot
from each other when we have a diverse group in one place.

I also think co-located are hugely beneficial. Every team does its
own thing, but occasionally we all get together to share thoughts
and take a break.

LibreOffice seems to have a really active documentation team, and
I'd love to have some of you at the conference, and better still,
at the sprints. Let me know if you need anything.

Thanks,
Shaun

Hi Tom,

Yes, please! I'd love to have some LibreOffice documentation people
at the conference. And if people are interested, at the sprints as
well.

Thanks,
Shaun

I'm not sure any would be able to go but it might start them thinking
in that direction.

Hi folks,

I'm hosting the Open Help Conference& Sprints again this year, August 11-15. I
know a lot of Ubuntu docs people were interested last year. In fact, Phil and Jim
both came last
year, though they were also sort of there as GNOME docs people. I hope to see
some friendly Ubuntu faces this year.

The main conference is August 11-12. This is followed by multiple team sprints
August 13-15. I'd love to host an Ubuntu doc sprint, and perhaps have an
Ubuntu/GNOME meetup to see how we can better help each other. We've been kind
of cherry-picking each other's work for the last year. I'm sure we could figure
out ways to make this more efficient.

The presentation proposal period is now open, so if you'd like to share
something cool with the world, let me know. Also, this year I'm having a tools
showcase, a set of lightning talks where we all show off the tools we make and
use.

If you have any questions, just email.

Thanks,
Shaun
