Position : Network Engineer Location : Reston, VA Duration : 6 months The manager doesn’t want a candidate who is primarily CISCO, she wants someone with juniper and Nokia Checkpoint/F5 experience. They only use 5-10% of CISCO. She doesn’t expect the candidate to have experience with all the technologies so she is willing to train. This is an immediate need and the hiring manager is looking to hire soon. Let me know if you need any more information • Provide support to various application teams in order to facilitate the deployment and support of Internet vended applications. • Perform installations and configuration changes on devices such as load balancers, proxy servers, routers, switches, firewalls. • Provide second-level support for DMZ and network issues; this includes completing detailed problem resolution documentation. • Provide design, analytical and implementation support for network improvements and enhancements. • Ability to work with network analyzer equipment. Monitor system hardware/software and manage system and service performance. • Provide analysis to support performance tuning and capacity planning. • Determine capacity and performance planning goals with respect to the assigned areas of responsibility • Provide design, analytical, and implementation support for network improvements and enhancements • Serve as technical consultant on architectures for Fannie Mae networks • Engineer with expert knowledge of the TCP/IP Protocol Suite. • In depth knowledge and hands on experience with several of the application and routing protocols listed below: - TCP/IP, UDP, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, SNMP, HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, FTP, and SMTP • At least 5 years experience with hands-on configuration/ troubleshooting of the following: - Web Proxy Solutions - Cisco Network Devices - Hardware Load Balancers - Firewall Technologies - DNS / Bind - Global Load Balancing Solutions • Strong understanding of network routing/switching (Cisco) in conjunction with web infrastructure design. • Must be able to contribute to architecture design discussions, as well as quickly troubleshoot the existing environment. • Must have both application and enterprise level support experience. • Ability to work with network analyzer equipment. Education: B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience required Six years of technical experience in computer systems administration, operations and/or development CCIE, CCNP and CCDP Cisco certifications preferred. Skills: 5+ Must have strong written, verbal, and analytical skills. Good organizational skills and process oriented and capable of setting forth guidelines, policies and procedures in their area of work. Must be able to clearly articulate technical concepts/issues to both technical and non-technical peers and management.
