Dan,
You are taking me back many years, and around here somewhere I have an article by a gentleman named Sartori that made some of the solid state replacements for the 4 line tubes. I think his articles were in Ham Radio or CQ mag though, not QST. You might do a search of those data bases, as he published the FET's he used, and how he did it. Hope that helps, or jogs the memories of some of the other list members as to where to find his article. I will look, but it may take me a while to dig through all the junk ,hi.

Before posting, I searched through the Drakelist databases for any mention of solid state tube replacements and found nothing. In the April 1977 issue of QST, they talk about "Solid Tubes" and making replacement tubes for some of the Drake 4 line. They talk about using "readily available 7 and 9 pin miniature plugs" to build the replacement tubes on. Back then I'm sure they were readily available, but I can't find them anywhere today. Does anyone know where I can buy the 7 and 9 pin plugs, or better yet where I can buy already made solid state tube replacements for 12BY7A, 12AX7A, 12BA6, 6BA6, 6AU6 and 6EV7?
