Resolution: Incomplete
Hi Craig,
Glad to hear you may be interested in working with DSpace!
Just an FYI -- the best place to ask for advice on new projects is our
'dspace-tech' mailing list. That listserv includes both developers working with
DSpace software and also some managers who use the system on a daily basis. It
can be a good place to find initial feedback around a new idea.

As for your project -- it sounds interesting, but it'd be good to hear more
specifics on what an 'intelligent search function' would entail. There's also
a semi-related project which may or may not be of interest to you, called
DSpace Discovery (https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace+Discovery),
which seeks to improve DSpace search/browse by use of Apache Solr.
I'm closing this issue for now -- please feel free to send an email to our
DSpace-tech mailiing list, and we'll try to provide you with more
feedback/suggestions there.
Thanks,
Tim

> Hi
> I am a University student and I am trying to think of a dissertation idea.
> i was thinking of developing an intelligent search function that would make
> finding resources for assignments, modules and courses easier.
> i do not use dspace on a regular basis and it would be nice to get some feed
> back as to whether this would be a worth while project.
> Alternatively, if theres any other ideas for an approximate 6 month project
> that would be ideal for a dissertation they would be welcomed.
> Thanks

Virtualization is moving to the mainstream and overtaking non-virtualized
environment for deploying applications. Does it make network security
easier or more difficult to achieve? Read this whitepaper to separate the
two and get a better understanding.
