Hi Bram,

Thanks for confirming that this can be fixed. I am still confused since we
have not customized our index settings.

Hi Dale,

this is on your public installation at http://discoverarchive.vanderbilt.edu/
right ?

I saw this example:
http://discoverarchive.vanderbilt.edu/handle/1803/2949

with the title:
15 B. John Garrick: "What Have We Learned About Geological Disposal from the
Yucca Mountain Experience?"

I tried to retrieve it with the search queries Experience? and "Experience?".
Strangely enough, the second query returned over a thousand results, while the
first one only gave 43. Searching on Yucca Mountain Experience works, but it
doesn't when including the question mark at the end.

In Lucene in general, the question mark symbol is a "any character" wildcard.
But any character should also match with an actual question mark, right?

I tried a similar test on another repository, where it did seem to work:
using the query Is what you see what you are? gives
https://lirias.kuleuven.be/handle/123456789/146635 as the first search result
when using the simple search.

So it might be something related to your configuration, as opposed to a general
problem.
Although I don't have the answer, still hope this helps.

Bram

Good morning,

We are running version 1.6.2 and have experienced an issue with indexing some
punctuation. Specifically if we search for a title containing a "?" the title
is not found. However, if we do the same search but exclude the "?" it works.
I have been unable to find any reference to question marks or other
punctuation in the documentation. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
