As Steve mentioned, discussion about Field Day's "special purpose"
(Steve Martin fans, stop laughing) are not on topic here, but...

If someone here's goal is to show off D-STAR to local folks, then GET IT
DONE. Pack up the D-STAR rigs, antennas, power, and head on over to the
local FD site.

Nobody NEEDS the ARRL "sanctioning" D-STAR in the so-called
"non-contest" rules to do useful things and meet with local EmComm
people on FD. Nice? Sure. Necessary? Nope.

I assume everyone whining here about this has already scheduled their
local EmComm officials to show up, has the D-STAR rigs in the Pelican
cases ready to go, and all the other assorted accessories and gear, and
has an idea in mind of how to "wow" them.

If not, put your money where your keyboard is, and make those phone
calls -- you've got two days.

Waiting on someone else to do these things means it will never get done.

Complaining about ARRL won't cut it either.

GET 'ER DONE.
