Over the past few months various attempts by fraudsters to scam substantial amounts of gold have been thwarted by the activities of exchange providers, digital gold currencies (DGC’s), and banks working together in a cooperative stance. The amounts have ranged from small to considerable and it was by simply doing what the exchange providers, DGCs and banks do best that such successful results were obtained.
Over the years the Internet has been seen as an ideal holiday resort by fraudsters and scammers and, while most of them are of amateur quality, there are some smart, if morally short sighted, criminals out there working diligently to extract funds from unsuspecting consumers and merchants alike. As a result millions of dollars are scammed through credit cards and banks on a daily basis and banks generally have an ‘allowance’ they will write off as fraud on their books. The gold community cannot afford such luxuries of course and even though it has its share of fraud this is rapidly diminishing due to the diligence of exchange providers, DGCs and others. In addition most of these scams are easily preventable with a little diligence and some education. The Global Digital Currency Association Inc includes among it’s purposes: To promote and sponsor educational activities that alert and teach the general public about the benefits of digital forms of money. To assist businesses to use digital currencies effectively as a medium of exchange by way of distribution of information and other services deemed necessary.
