I'm sure you've tried things, but that part should be in the latest RHEL kernel. You could try booting from a live DVD (like Ubuntu Live) to see if that works, but look very carefully at your dmesg when you get home.
Also, make sure you check your BIOS and read the errata and update if necessary. In any case, you'll probably need to contact Asus. Good luck.
