The purpose of the internship is to facilitate the work of the two programs by bringing Roma women's perspectives into their programs' activities. Specific tasks of the intern will include: * making a database of Roma women's organizations and woman leaders in the region * evaluation of the potential of other OSI programs to include Roma women's perspectives into their work * gathering reference data (documents, papers, any written material in languages including Romani and English) on the issues of Roma women in the region * to provide recommendations to RPP and NWP on best strategies for reaching out to Roma women's communities and to develop specific projects to address Roma women's issues; The intern will work closely with the two programs as well as with national OSI foundations. The internship will be for 6 months, starting January 1999. Time will be divided in New York, Budapest, and one's home country. The intern should be a Romani woman with some education, a citizen of one of the OSI Network countries, should have experience with a Roma or women's NGO, must speak English and Romani, must have good organizational skills, and must know how to use Microsoft Word.
