               Internship on Roma Women's Issues

                        sponsored by

   Open Society Institute's Roma Participation Program (RPP) and
                 Network Women's Program (NWP)

The RPP and NWP of the Open Society Institute announce a
joint internship on Roma Women's Issues. The purpose of the
internship is to facilitate the work of the two programs by
bringing Roma women's perspectives into their programs'
activities.

Specific tasks of the intern will include:

* making a database of Roma women's organizations and woman
leaders in the region

* evaluation of the potential of other OSI programs to
include Roma women's perspectives into their work

* gathering reference data (documents, papers, any written
material in languages including Romani and English) on the
issues of Roma women in the region

* to provide recommendations to RPP and NWP on best
strategies for reaching out to Roma women's communities and
to develop specific projects to address Roma women's issues;

The intern will work closely with the two programs as well
as with national OSI foundations.

The internship will be for 6 months, starting January 1999.
Time will be divided in New York, Budapest, and one's home
country.

The intern should be a Romani woman with some education, a
citizen of one of the OSI Network countries, should have
experience with a Roma or women's NGO, must speak English
and Romani, must have good organizational skills, and must
know how to use Microsoft Word.
