One major task is to compile the most recent data that are representative of open-lake conditions for the contaminants specified in Annex 1 in water and in fish tissue, and compare those data to the Specific Objectives outlined in Annex 1. This will help answer the question, "How well are the objectives in Annex 1 being met?" The second major task is to compare the Specific Objectives with regulatory or policy values that have been developed in the United States and Canada since the Objectives were incorporated into Annex 1. The NGO Working Group on the Export Development Corporation (WG) , a
working group of the Halifax Initiative Coalition, promotes adherence by export
credit agencies, particularly Canada's Export Development Corporation (EDC), to
internationally accepted standards regarding transparency, human rights,
environment and sustainable development. It wishes to hire a Coordinator for the
period January 8, 2001 to June 30, 2001 in its Ottawa office. Reporting to the
NGO Working Group on the Export Development Corporation, and working closely
with the Halifax Initiative Coordinator based in Ottawa, s/he is responsible for
communications and coordination of the Working Group. The Coordinator will
support WG research needs through research, writing and coordination of research
projects; undertake media outreach and events, including the drafting of press

Udall Foundation based in Tucson, Arizona wishes to select candidates for three

The U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution was created by the U.S.
Congress through the Environmental Policy and Conflict Resolution Act of 1998

environmental research persons. The Center was established by the United

States, the East-West Center seeks to foster the development of an Asia-Pacific
community through cooperative study, training and research. The Center is
seeking highly qualified candidates for two positions who will be responsible
for developing strategies to build cooperative projects with active
participation of senior researchers and private sector representatives from
Asia-Pacific and the United States. Position 1. Fellow/Senior Fellow,

Green Corps is a non-profit field school for environmental organizing, founded
by leading environmentalists in 1992 to identify and train the next generation

training, hands-on experience running urgent environmental and public health

RURAL DEVELOPMENT Applications are invited for a permanent position as Senior
Lecturer/Associate Professor at the Department of Environmental and Business
Economics, The University of Southern Denmark, Esbjerg. The Department of
Environmental and Business Economics (IME) under the Social Science Faculty at
the University of Southern Denmark, is situated in Esbjerg, with a scientific
staff of 19 . Special focus areas for business economics research are:
innovation, learning and competence building as well as regional science
focusing on rural innovation. This field of research is in a formative stage,
and it is their intent to integrate the regional science/rural development
research into the wider socio- and business economics research activities of the
Department. The regional science/rural innovation research is expected to
interact fruitfully with the activities of the Centre for Rural Development,
which is currently being established. The Centre has as one of its main purposes
to contribute to the sustainable development of rural districts, especially in
terms of business development and living conditions. The application must

ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION MANAGER WANTED FOR
CHINA
European Project Consultants (EPC), based in Belgium offers technical
assistance to the EC-China Environmental Management co-operation Programme
(EMCP) in Component 4, concerning Information, Documentation and Promotion. It
is looking for a good candidate for the post of a Co-Director, who shall be
based in Beijing for 4 years (40 work months). Candidates will have to show
in-depth knowledge of the area of work (collection, development and
dissemination of information; awareness-raising on environmental and sustainable
development subject; public relations and assistance to co-ordination), at least
ten years experience of project management, and familiarity with procedures of
international funding agencies. They will ideally have a track record concerning
project implementation in China and have a good understanding of local methods
of working and of the institutional framework. Ability to work in English, both
orally and in writing, will be a prerequisite. Communication skills in Mandarin
will be an advantage. In terms of academic background, a master degree
will be the minimum required. Citizenship of an EU Member State is required for

Specialised expertise is likely to be required is environmentally sound
technologies, joint venture operations, television and broadcasting,
