This is a book review of:

 Nuts About Squirrels
 Richard E. Mallery
 pub 2000

The overall theme of this book seems to
be: You can't beat them so laugh and learn
to live with them. A fun read for anyone
who has both bird feeders and squirrels.

The book is filled with humor and facts.
It is difficult to tell the difference sometimes
and this might fit our relationship with squirrels.
They are both entertaining and confusing pests.

At the end of each chapter is a quiz.
Here is a sample:

How many nests will a squirrel build in one
year?
  - It depends upon how many fleas the
squirrel has. High infestations cause the
    squirrel to move often.

How far can a squirrel jump?
  - Flying squirrels can jump about a quarter
of a mile. Normal squirrels only 8-10 feet.

A squirrels greatest enemies are:
  - humans, cats, dogs, coyotes, foxes, hawks,
    raccoons, weasels, brooms, and cars.

Why do squirrels sometimes dance in front of oncoming
cars?
  - this is a natural squirrel tactic to confuse the
    enemy.

What steps can always be used to keep squirrels out
of bird feeders?
  - short ones, long ones, just about any length works.
