I have used dhcpd fail over system, first Ubuntu 6.06/LTSP4.2, then Ubuntu 8.04.1/LTSP5. I have two identical servers (same hardware and software), just dhcpd setup is different (master and salve). Ubuntu 6.06/LTSP4.2 - old one http://www.arkki.info/howto/Wiki/LTSP-Mantykangas/ Ubuntu 8.04.1/LTSP5 - new one http://www.arkki.info/howto/Wiki/LTSP5-Mantykangas/ltsp-master/ http://www.arkki.info/howto/Wiki/LTSP5-Mantykangas/ltsp-slave/ I have used this howto for the new system: https://wiki.edubuntu.org/EdubuntuDHCPload-balancingFailover I do not use ldap, just same simple passwd file for both servers. No one has real login name, we use auto login system. I like it that way - quite simple to set up two servers.
