I'm not sure what exactly you want to know - there are two aspects to
support some specific processor architecture:

- Support in the development tool chain (i. e. cross compiler, native
  tools, libraries): here you can yuse the existing code, nothing new
  needs to be added

- Support for the processor and especially your board in the boot
  loader (U-Boot) and the OS (Linux) running on the board: this is
  independent of the ELDK, i. e. youc an use any U-Boot and/or Linux
  kernel source tree that has board support for your hardware
  (sometimes called a "BSP") included.  Again, nothing needs to be
  added to the ELDK.

So there are no plans to change anything to support he MPC8306,
because no changes are required.

[There is, on the other hand, work going on for ELDK 5.0, but that is
a different story.]
