It is well known among audio professionals that the perceived "warmth" is nothing more than second harmonic distortion, AND the absence of much higher order products (the ear is far more sensitive to high order distortion, because they are less musical -- that is, higher musical intervals). You can buy studio signal processing products from a very well respected designer of mixing consoles that are simply second harmonic generators. The "normal" setting of the "warmth" control is at around 3-5%.
