Joel;

With just a few exceptions (mostly Apple Apps), Mac apps do not have to be 
directly in the Applications folder. The solution to your problem is to put the 
entire folder containing the P3 Utility into the Applications folder. I 
actually have all my Elecraft Utilities in a single folder inside the 
Applications folder, each in its own folder inside one named "Ham Apps".

That should separate the applications enough so that you do not get that 
problem.
