Don and all, Yes, that is possible electrically, and it will work, BUT - it will drive you nuts unless you have perfect timing with the dashes with respect to the start and end of the automatically generated dits - I have tried it with several keyers including the K2 just for fun. Mechanical bugs seem to be more forgiving for me (or maybe it is the tactle feedback that I miss), but it is certainly easy to try it and see what your results will be - you do not even have to open up the K2.
