Let me pose this differently. The #org-mode channel has a large footprint already, though lower utilization than #emacs. There are 230 org users online right now. It would be great to see some dev discussions on IRC, and if we ever get too much traffic, maybe make a #org-mode-dev channel. I'd encourage you to try to use the existing resources first, especially where the user base is.
