There was a problem with the custom type definition of the variable `org-export-html-protect-char-alist', and AFAIU that caused Scott's problem. I fixed this. I think org-html.el is the right place for declaring the Org Export Html customization group -- I'm curious to understand why your patch would have fixed Scott's issue. Thanks! -- Bastien
