Reading over the Allura features list,
http://sourceforge.net/p/allura/wiki/Features/, I don't see significant
problems nor amazing new capability.

- Allura offers feature tracking rethought "from the ground up" and
fire-polished during the development of Allura. How much more useful it
would be for us than the existing SourgeForge Trackers remains to be
seen. I didn't notice any statement about possible impact of the release
of Allure on the continued support of the existing trackers.

- Allura offers threaded-discussion forums which look, superficially at
least, like the linuxcnc forums. The announcement does not say what will
happen to SourceForge maillists. Even if it doesn't have to, perhaps the
emc-developers email list could migrate to a Allura threaded-discussion
forum?

- Allura offers a wiki for documentation development. Now isn't that
special?

- Allura offers a code repository that supports git, mercurial, and
subversion (but only old svn repositories, they say in the FAQ) and
supports browser-based code browsing. We already have these features in
our repository. Would we consider migrating it to Allura hosted on
SourceForge?

- Allura is written in Python. It must be the Right Stuff :-)

Perhaps the biggest attraction lies in the consolidation of these
features into one code package which one could easily configure and and
run either on SourceForge hardware or other hardware and keep (I assume)
the same data same interfaces, and same look-and-feel.

Regards,
Kent
