Yes, you can work it the other way around with VirtualBox as well. Windows host -> VirtualBox -> Linux guest. Typically on my linux machines, I'll use KVM to handle the VM work since it's noticeably quicker with response than VirtualBox. There are few functional differences, both allow to have visible or not, both allow guest booting automatically, etc. Both technologies are equally suitable to this problem, it's more a matter of personal preference.
