Cellular phones, personal communication devices, and other wireless products will proliferate as people continue to fold these products in their everyday lives. Recent estimates put the number of wireless subscribers in the US at more than 30 million, and is growing at the rate of 45% annually. As their numbers and mobility increase, there will be more opportunities for these devices to come in contact and interact with medical devices. This is the third annual forum sponsored by the University of Oklahoma's Center for Wireless Electromagnetic Compatibility Studies which links the wireless industry with the medical industry to meeting the EMC Challenge. The first two forums, held in Dallas, Texas, focused on the interaction issues and creating tools for the EMC challenge. The theme of this forum is to focus on solutions to the hospital EMI issues and interactions to implanted pacemakers and hearing aids. Hotel Reservations A special "CTIA Meeting" rate of $145 for single/double is available for stay at the Renaissance Hotel where the forum will be held. For reservation, contact the hotel at : (202)-898-9000).
