Is LinuxCNC licensing compatible with Ubuntu?
I've not been aware of any legal things, but it does need some investigation. I thought ubuntu was gpl? Found a list on the net, looks like a minefield. Each utility has a different license and some aren't even  shown. Must be 50 different versions.  W/o seeing a US court opinion, I'm confused.  OTOH. debian likely is no better when looking at it piece by piece. I'm reminded of the famous xkcd version except there's way more variations.

It seems to me we need a legal opinion. Does anyone know if the FSF expounds on that?

So the question is, are you going to spin up a ubuntu based
installer,
I have no plans to do so, because Ubuntu require us to remove all
Ubuntu branding from such an installer, without giving any guidance
on
how to do that.

But you should be able to just install Ubuntu and then install the
LinuxCNC .deb package.

Also ubuntu realtime stuff needs ubuntu pro subscription. They say it's
free for personal and small scale commercial use, but who knows if it
stays that way.
