My experience with a Pluto is it works properly on some machines and not on others. I have not found any pattern. I have an old P3 machine with onboard parallel port that I have always used it with, and it works perfectly. At an EMC Fest years ago, we tried it on several machines, and mine was the only one where it worked. But that's the least of your problems. You need EPP mode and the Netmos 98xx chips simply don't work in EPP mode, even though they are advertised as doing so. I believe one of the previous times on this list this was hashed out, one of us found that in the technical documentation the manufacturer even says it doesn't work. I didn't find the thread in the archives, but with more perseverance maybe you can, if you are interested. I see you say something about non-EPP mode but I don't know how or if that works. It might be there for debugging; I doubt you will get acceptable performance without hardware EPP, even if you can get it to work. If your Atom board has a built-in parallel port, try that. Otherwise, try a non-netmos pci card, or a different computer or two (with built-in ports). > Also, if the pluto fpga board is really that much problematic, I thing > It would be nice to put some warning on the documentation. I thought the documentation said that, but I can't find anywhere that it does. I think this is a good idea. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Keep Your Developer Skills Current with LearnDevNow!
