Greetings, Bill Scannell asked me to host the PDF file he obtained which reveals Jet Blue's privacy violations so that he might lessen the bandwidth load on the main DontSpyOnUs website. (The main site links to the PDF at http://www.abditum.com/~rabbi/S3B3_Roark.pdf). Bill and I believe this document has very strong public interest value, and that the public should be aware of the information it reveals about Jet Blue's privacy violations. I just received word from a colleague of mine that he had been contacted by someone claiming to be a lawyer representing Torch Concepts. While I am not entirely sure why this lawyer contacted him, it appears they were trying to contact me, ostensibly to request that the document be removed from my server for reasons of copyright. The document itself bears no copyright notice or indication that the distribution should be limited in any way, and I have not yet had the opportunity to discuss this matter with anyone related to Torch Concepts. While I don't believe the copyright argument could be used to successfully censor the distribution of this information, I will of course be consulting with counsel and, if advised to do so, be removing the document. Until I have the opportunity to speak with my attorney, however, the document will remain online. --Len.
