I have had similar problems and they were related to an ER Mapper "upgrade" error. It seems as though the last time I upgraded, ERMapper turned many of the files in it's GDT_DATA directory into backup (.bak) files. However, it did not replace many of these .bak files with updated .dat files. This resulted in ERMapper looking for a file name (w/ a .dat extension) and not finding it. I changed the .bak to .dat and things worked fine. Check it out.
