Subject: For next yaer's PyCon: Human Search Engine

Hi David (or whoever is getting these comments),

I have an interesting suggestion for next year's PyCon. It's an idea
called the "Human Search Engine" stolen from another conference I go to.

At (or just after) a plenary session, when everybody is in the room,
you do a quick 15-to-30-minute session. Ask people to line up behind
one of the microphones. Each person has 20 seconds or so to make a
"search query": to ask the crowd for the answer to a question, help
with a problem, a connection to a project or a person they're looking
for, something to borrow, etc. (Don't actually take time to let
members of the audience explain their answers; just give enough time
for hands to go up, contact information to be announced so people can
hook up later or hold a BOF, and then move on.)

PyCon is now big enough that, with everybody in one room, random
queries are fairly likely to get hits. It's fun, it's fast, it gets
people the hook-ups they're looking for, and it also gives people a
chance to introduce themselves to the community. So, let's give the
Human Search Engine a try for next year. (I'd be happy to run it.)
