Agreed, it looks good. > I see challenges with timing and the very > dynamic nature of room allocations, though. > > (very dynamic nature is of course an euphemism) Not really, for PyCon UK and, I think EP 2008, there weren't a lot of changes after we'd done the scheduling. > Most helpfull for EP AND the guys from floorplan would be: > > a) if they can support EP with that floorplan > b) be there and present the floorplan system, thereby dynamically > updating the floorplan on site. I'll go along with that. > Thatway it could be reasonable actual AND people can learn that the > system really works in real world (opposed to some meeting organizers > dream where every organizational detail is fixed at some time before > it happens :) ) If it's organised properly in advance, there won't be much to change at runtime. Of course there will always be some last-minute hiccups, but they can be minimised. And we can always get into the conference interpreter's interactive shell ;-) A note of caution (or GeekAlert): we have a system which works: it is based on simplicity. floorplan would be a very worthwhile addition, but that is what it must be - an addition. It must not compromise the functionality of the basic system, because we rely on that to run the conference.
