Definitive reply from PayPal Website Payments Pro: We don't accept
Amex, what the website says is wrong and should have been changed by
now.
PayPal seem to have a pretty fraught relationship with Amex, it's a
shame you guys choose to work with PayPal, I've already had to take them
to the FSO once, and prefer to have as little to do with them as possible.
* try paying with your Amex via the PayPal Express Checkout option, or
Where is this? I see a PayPal link on
http://www.europython.eu/registration/, but that just goes to
http://www.paypal.co.uk/...
It's on the Checkout basket.
You could do with ditching the initial paypal link, it's confusing.
It may fail for the same reason, but it would be helpful for everyone
else if you were to try...
Nope, it worked, and it looks like PayPal have fixed their long standing
bug of refusing to accept Amex for primary payment. I see they're still
trying to get you to fund from your bank account rather than a credit
card, where you have more protection.
How about giving one yourself? I'm sure you'd be good for a half-day
session, which would leave you free to go to up to 3 other tutorials
and/or join in the Code Clinic.
I'm giving a "reading and writing excel files without using COM" one at
PyCon in a couple of weeks, I'll see how that goes. There was a reason I was
asking what perks tutorial givers get, mercenary that I am ;-)
I think I answered that one earlier, didn't I? /me wonders if his
memory is failing...
It's likely my memory that's failing, I've probably squirreled for when
I have "more time", which will likely mean "until the conference is
close enough that its priority is raised sufficiently" ;-)
