First let me check I understand you. The current published dates are (A):
Sun 19 - Mon 20 Training
Tue 21 - Fri 24 Main conference
Sat 25 - Sun 26 Sprints (2d training + 4d conference + 2d sprints = 8 days)

You're proposing one of:
(B) Mon 20 - Sun 26 5d conference inc training tracks + 2d sprints = 7 days
(C) Mon 20 - Fri 24 5d conference inc training tracks and sprints = 5 days
(D) Tue 21 - Sun 26 4d day conference inc training tracks + 2d sprints = 6 days
(E) Tue 21 - Fri 24 4d conference inc training tracks and sprints = 4 days

The above is not a comment on the proposal, I just want to be explicit
so we all understand what we are discussing.

I can see the appeal of intermixing training days and the main
conference, and I agree with the benefits you list. The thoughts that
come to mind are
 - Trainers would miss maybe 25% of talks they might have come for
 - If the tutorials are in the latter half then a Python rookie
attending Python 101 couldn't enjoy talks on days 1 & 2 as much. If
tutorials were still intermixed but tutorials were placed in the first
half the same Python rookie could get more out of intermediate talks
in the latter half.
 - During previous EPs and PyConUKs sprints during the main conference
have occurred just by people getting together in the hallway. So there
are some who would like intermingled sprint track/talks tracks
 - As someone flying in with my own money fewer hotel nights has a lot
of appeal, but that's my selfish POV.

Questions
- Would intermingled training still be separately charged ? Would
trainers still receive a (modest) fee?
- Would training sessions run in parallel with plenaries/keynotes
(i.e. would trainers/trainees miss the big events)?

Undecidedly yrs, Alex
