Hi, My search on google for this topic turned up zillions of hits about viewing DVD movies under Linux. But what about data DVDs?
I have a (dmesg output): hdc: QSI DVD-ROM SDR-081, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive hdc: ATAPI 61X DVD-ROM drive, 512kB Cache, UDMA(33) Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.12 When I put in a DVD I can browse the filestructure with mc or any other filemanager. As soon as I want to read a file with a program (i.e. a .pdf with Acrobat Reader or a .html with any html reader) the DVD drive starts running and running endlessly. The program can issue a timeout message and I can shut it down. I can even get on with my work. The dvd drive is still running and searching for the file until I power off the computer. Unmounting the drive doesn't work, of course it says: drive in use! The drive works without any probs with any kind of cdroms. wobo -- "... and anyway, an html can't carry a virus."
