FDA Proposal Would Require New Standards for Dietary Supplements

FDA has proposed a rule that would, for the first time, establish standards
to ensure that dietary supplements do not contain contaminants or
impurities, and that product ingredients are listed accurately. Among the
proposals are requirements for design of physical plants, quality control
procedures, product testing, maintaining records, and handling consumer
complaints.
