It is with regret that we announce the departure of Chris Wilper from the
DuraSpace team. Chris, who has been working on the Fedora project for 10+
years, has taken a position close to home in Rochester with Thompson
Reuters as part of their in house development team.

Chris has been a pillar of the Fedora community and has made his mark
advancing Fedora over the years from a prototype to a full scale production
system with hundreds of institutions adopting the open source platform.
As DuraSpace tech lead for Fedora, Chris has been successful during the
last few years transitioning Fedora from a grant funded project to a
volunteer, open source community-based project supported by an engaged
developer community. Please join us in wishing Chris well in his new
endeavors.

Our intent is to fill Chris's line as soon as possible. In light of recent
discussions around the future direction of Fedora, we are working closely
with the stakeholder community to determine the optimum skill set and
responsibilities to help drive a new development effort. We plan on
reaching consensus and taking action well before the end of this calendar
year. The group hopes to fund multiple positions both within and outside
of the organization to forward the work in a substantial way.

You can expect to hear more about this decision and a Fedora improvement
project in the near future.
