Some of the time kittens from a FelV mom will throw off the virus, but not always. I am hoping the 4 pos. kittens I now have in my sanctuary will be negative when I retest at the end of Oct. They are not caged, and they have 3 large rooms to run around in, lots of toys, good food and TLC. So no stress!
