It's the "from someone else" that may well be the cause of the problem. Many inexperienced (or less experienced) Finale users don't pay attention to how the anchor point may get changed as they move objects around on-screen. They're just focusing on placing where it will look good, and sometimes something like a bowing mark or a technical term which is specific to a particular staff such as "spiccato" for a violin staff, may be placed such that it is actually anchored to the staff above the violin staff even though it prints fine and looks just as the person wants it to. So when you delete that violin staff from the score, that term still shows up because it's actually anchored to a staff which is still in the score. There is no easy one-click solution to this -- you simply have to go through, click on each thing that doesn't belong and hit the delete key for it. It is my experience that when you delete a staff from a Finale score, all the things which are attached to that staff, truly attached to it, are deleted as well. -- David H.
