It's the "from someone else" that may well be the cause of the problem. 
  Many inexperienced (or less experienced) Finale users don't pay 
attention to how the anchor point may get changed as they move objects 
around on-screen.  They're just focusing on placing where it will look 
good, and sometimes something like a bowing mark or a technical term 
which is specific to a particular staff such as "spiccato" for a violin 
staff, may be placed such that it is actually anchored to the staff 
above the violin staff even though it prints fine and looks just as the 
person wants it to.

So when you delete that violin staff from the score, that term still 
shows up because it's actually anchored to a staff which is still in the 
score.

There is no easy one-click solution to this -- you simply have to go 
through, click on each thing that doesn't belong and hit the delete key 
for it.

It is my experience that when you delete a staff from a Finale score, 
all the things which are attached to that staff, truly attached to it, 
are deleted as well.
